Should there be Capitol punishment
Have you ever heard of Capitol punishment? It is a death penalty that is given to a criminal when they commit a horrendous crime. It is the highest punishment that is given for a crime. Do you believe that this should be enforced? Well I do. Capitol punishment can do many things for our society. It can prevent further crimes, set an example for others, and serve justice for the lives that were lost or ruined.
(For debate) Judge, I think you should be looking for what would be better for the society, rather than what is good for an individual.
1) First of all, it would prevent further crimes. Those people who commit crimes tend to repeat them. With Capitol punishment you are removing those the bad people from society. It prevents more crimes and possibly saves people's lives.
This also reduces work for police. gives the police much less to struggle with. Now they can focus on preventing other crimes and new criminals.
2) It also sets an deterrence for people. It will make people scared to commit crimes. They will think twice before they commit a new crime. This will significantly reduce crime rates throughout America. It has been shown that capitol punishment saves lives. According to source, "Using a variety of samples and statistical methods, consistently demonstrate a strong link between executions and reduced murder rates... In short, capital punishment does, in fact, save lives" [1]
3) Finally, it will serve justice to the lives that were lost or ruined. The person who took the life, shall lose their life. This is considered justice throughout many nations. This gives consolation to the victim's family. "Whatever your feelings are toward the death penalty, one thing most people will never know is the pain experienced when a family member, or in my case, family members are brutally tortured and murdered." [1]
All in all, I believe that capitol punishment should be enforced because it prevents further crimes, sets an example for people, and serves justice to the lives that were lost or ruined. It helps people believe in order and fabric of our society.
